As we begin the last month of major activity for Central Washington Club Sports, two of the most active clubs will take to the field on Saturday and Sunday. Men’s Lacrosse and Men’s Rugby both have a double-header scheduled this weekend.
Pacific Lutheran- 1pm Saturday April 7th @Nicholson Multipurpose Fields
The Wildcat Lacrosse team will begin the weekend taking on Lutes of Pacific Lutheran. Central and PLU are tied for fourth place in the PNCLL North Division. Central lost on Sunday to Gonzaga who is 23rd in nation and leads the PNCLL North.
Southern Oregon-12 pm Sunday April 8th @Nicholson Multipurpose Fields
On Sunday the Wildcats will take on Southern Oregon who is 6-3 and currently second in the PNCLL South Division. This will be the second Oregon school the Wildcats have faced this year.
Rugby- 1 and 3 pm Saturday April 7th at Women’s Varsity Soccer Complex
Playoffs are on the line Saturday as the Central Wildcats take on the Bruins of UCLA in a D1-A match. Both teams are tied at 5 points and fighting for the second berth out of the Pacific Division. St Maries has essentially clinched the Pacific Division and will have home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
In the second to last D1-AA match of the season, the Wildcats can knock another team out of the playoff race in the Northwest Collegiate Rugby Conference. The Wildcats will take on the Vandals of Idaho. Central has not had much competition in their D1-AA schedule handling Oregon, Washington, and Washington State very easily. The only loss on the D1-AA schedule for the Wildcats is against the University of British Columbia, who are also not eligible for D1-AA playoffs.
