Central Rugby Heads to California for Pivotal Match

Central Rugby enters the meat of their  D1-A schedule this Saturday as they head down to St. Maries for 1 PM kickoff in Moraga, CA.

St Maries came blistering out of the gates, starting with dominating victories over UCLA and Cal Poly. Their offense has scored points very easily in opening matches, scoring 145 points. St Maries also boasts a stellar defense only allowing 22 total points throughout the season. This will be a true test for the Wildcats as they continue their march towards home-field advantage in the playoffs.

This match will grab the eyes of collegiate rugby. Both programs are in the top-tier of Collegiate Rugby and have national championship aspirations. Central is coming off a victory over UC-Davis. Central did not play as well as they could have, but did come out with  the victory.

Playoff seeding is up for grabs in this match as well. With UC-Berkeley dropping out of the D1-A competition, the Pacific Division was up for grabs and it seems like this game will decide who gets highly coveted number 1 seed. Playing a home game is huge and both teams will have this on their minds because whoever gets the 2 seed has to travel.
