Central Equestrian decided to make a statement this season. That statementwas heard loud and clear this weekend in Lynden as they have become a force to reckoned with as one of the top Equestrian Clubs in The Pacfic Northwest. They compete in Zone 8 Region 4 of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association and between them and Oregon State Equestrian 11 riders had qualified for Western Style Regionals in Silverton, Oregon. With the Regular season for Western over, they turned their attention Hunter Style and competed in a double show this weekend in Lynden, WA hosted by Western Washington.
Before the show started, CWU led in total team points in Hunter Style, but had not yet garnered an individual regional qualifier for Hunter. Well that changed drastically this weekend. As a team Central was the Reserve high point or in lamen terms 2nd place, while Choloe Stice, Jessica Rieger, and Zandi Lougheed all gained individual berths to regionals as well allowing the entire CWU Hunter team to qualify for Regionals. Head Coach Ryann Bluhm said that “She is really proud of what the girls accomplished this year and that they are not done yet.” Refering to the post season where they hope to make a splash and put CWU Equestrian on the national map.
